Dr Amender Campbell
Dr Campbell is the newest member of the team. Amender started her working life as a registered nurse. Amender worked extensively in far western Queensland. As well as working in hospitals, she did a stint as Senior Flight Nurse with the RFDS and went onto serve as a sole-practitioner nurse in remote Aboriginal communities in the Mt Isa region. IN recognition of her services to real remote health, Amender was awarded an Australia Day Medallion.
Amender commenced medical training at James Cook University. Following graduation, she worked as a junior doctor at Townsville Hospital and then in the Emergency Department at Rockhampton Base Hospital for two years. Given her previous working life and family history of farmers, it is not surprising that Amender is especially interested in real and remote medicine. She joined the team in February 2019 to complete her GP training in that speciality, and having recently bought a home in Biloela with her husband, Amender intends staying here. Her leisure activities include fishing, caravanning, sewing and music.
